200 not out for Trust
The Iron Trust, Scunthorpe United’s Supporters Trust, passed another landmark on Saturday when its 200th member signed up.
The positivity surrounding the football club again, following two consecutive League One wins, helped to increase the crowd at Glanford Park for the visit of Notts County – and prompt fans to sign-up and push the total membership of the Trust to 206.
It gives the Trust a great boost ahead of a meeting between its interim board and the SUFC board of directors on Thursday.
The Trust’s interim board are looking to establish a working relationship with the entire SUFC board, as well as establish what – if any – plan there is for after the chairman’s proposed retirement in the summer.
We think this could be one of the most vital decisions witnessed at the club in a long-time, especially in wake of this week’s accounts which revealed the club lost £1.95million last season.
We already have an agreement in principle for quarterly meetings between the two boards, and will be present at the SUFC AGM on Monday December 10 – where we intend to submit questions from our members in advance of the meeting. The Trust now owns £500 worth of shares in the Football Club, and expects to increase this significantly after a recent surge in interest.
