Chairs Morecambe programme notes

Good evening and welcome to the Attis Arena for this rearranged fixture v Morecambe FC. We at the Iron Trust are delighted that the Shrimps survived their recent troubles having been bought out by the Sikh led consortium Panjab Warriors. Best of luck to all concerned after tonight’s game of course.

The Morecambe story resonates closely with our own recent history which was an inspiration when putting together the Iron Trust’s Sharebuilder initiative where we aim to greatly increase the fans buy-in to our club’s future survival and successes. Sharebuilder aims to raise £25,000 to purchase shares in Scunthorpe United FC in a joint initiative with the club. All the funds raised will be handed over to the Iron in return for shares to that value from those owned by SUFC Chair Michelle Harness. Board member Matt Ellis set up a Go-fund-me page and we have also set up a local Hull and East Riding Credit Union account. Gulls fans raised £100,000 for Torquay United; the Quaker fans from Darlo also raised £100,000 while Chester FC fans have embarked on a similar scheme so let’s hope together we can raise the £25,000.

The September Hat Trick draw results are as follows:-

First prize picking up £75 number 11, second prize picking up £25 number 52 and the third prize picking up £10 number 141. Prizes will go up by more people joining the draw: the cost is £1 per share with a minimum monthly subscription of £5. The three prize draws are for ten months of the year with both the December and May draws being a single prize of £500. Stocky senior is the man to see when collecting prize monies or to join.

At the latest meeting of the Iron Trust we were briefed on a meeting between ourselves and the Iron Foundation. Dave Beverley and Brian Edwards were dispatched to talk to Jo Schofield at the foundation on the recommendation of Glyn Sparks. Sadly, we at the Trust are not able to provide the Foundation with the financial support they were looking for. We wish them well in the work they do supporting our community.

We also discussed the forthcoming meeting of the Eastern Regional Supporter Trusts at Grantham Town FC on 16th October. Lincoln City, Grimsby Town, Northampton Town and Leicester City have attended in the past as well as us, whilst Nottingham Forest has pledged to attend this latest one.

More news on our latest meeting in the next Trust programme notes. Please enjoy the game don’t forget Go-fund-me Iron Trust Sharebuilder or Credit union account (details can be found on our revamped website at www.theirontrust.com)
