Hello once again as we welcome local rivals Boston United to the Attis Arena for our first encounter since the National North play-off semi-final which went in the Pilgrims favour after a 4-5 penalty shoot-out nearly two years ago now! Welcome to any travelling supporters making the short but arduous journey on single country roads and usually behind farm vehicles.
Firstly, thank you to those members who attended the Iron Trust AGM at the Berkeley Hotel on Thursday evening where club Chair Michelle Harness was due to present the Trust with its share certificate for our joint share builder initiative which raised £13,200 for club coffers.
The Trust also bade farewell to two board members; ‘Mr Iron Trust’ himself John Needham and Susan Godfrey, both having served the board with distinction and we wish them well for the future.
We are pleased to announce the Iron Trust player of the month award for January went to loan player Zain Westbrooke who has made a massive contribution to the Iron whilst on loan from Doncaster Rovers. Well done Zain.
The Hat-trick draw winning numbers for January were as follows:-
First prize £75 number – 20
Second prize £25 number – 186
Third prize £10 number – 96
Congratulations to those winners; please see Treasurer Mark Stockdale to pick up your monies. Joining the Hat-trick draw is by completion of an easy form which can be picked up from Trust corner prior to any home league game. Draw shares cost £1 each with a minimum monthly subscription of £5. At the moment we pay out £110 per month for ten months whilst the end of season May Draw and December Xmas draw pay out a single £500 prize.
Planning has also started for Flag Day 2026 which once again will be held at the Honest Lawyer after the last home game at the Attis Arena v Eastleigh on Saturday 25th April. ‘Big Shuggy’, aka Bryn Gosling, has responsibility for organising Flag Day which is a popular fixture amongst the Iron faithful.
A quick plug for local football as App Frod, Bottesford, Brigg, Crowle and Winterton all compete in the NCEL (Northern Counties East League). These clubs are well worth a visit if the Iron are not playing. Facilities and hospitality at Step 6 of the football pyramid are very good these days and you are virtually guaranteed to bump into a fellow Iron fan along the way.
Up the Mighty Iron.
