Chairs programme notes: Yeovil

Good afternoon fellow football fans as we get back to league football at the Attis Arena after our FA Cup exploits. Welcome to any travelling Glover’s fans making the trip to Scunthorpe: the last time our teams met fans had the option of watching the game on TV!

Firstly we are in the nomination stage of the Iron Trust elections where 3 positions are up for grabs. By rotation my position and that of Susan Godfrey are up for election. Sadly Susan has decided not to stand for re-election this time and will step down from the board at our AGM in February.  Also stepping down and thus creating that third position is Mr Iron Trust himself; John “Needers” Needham. John has been there from the very start in 2012 helping to set up the Iron Trust when it was a concept idea and for 12 of those years since he has held the position of Secretary before handing the reigns over to Steve Hawes and taking on the position of Assistant Secretary. John has also been instrumental in representing the Trust on FSA (Football Supporters Association) business and has had input into the Football Governance Act which is just coming into fruition.

On behalf of the Iron Trust I would like to thank both Susan and John for their work, support and friendship over many years; they will be missed.

Should any current member wish to nominate themselves for the board they must first secure a set of election papers from Steve Hawes. Details were in the email he sent out last weekend. The window opened on November 1st and will close November 21st.

Membership has now risen to over 1200 after a couple of families signed up at the last home game; let’s see if we can hit the 1250 mark before the end of the season.

We have recently had a donation to Sharebuilder from a lady on the Isle of Man in memory of her late husband. The lady, who wishes to remain anonymous, has helped push the fund to over £10,000. We would like to thank her and all the other fans who have donated. The Sharebuilder closes at the end of the month and details of how to donate can be found on our website www.theirontrust.com

As ever, enjoy the game and please visit us at Trust corner where we are running a bucket collection for the local Royal British Legion poppy appeal and supporting the work of local coordinator Jon Jones who also does sterling work organising Scunthorpe Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph.
