Trust Chair’s programme notes: Peterborough Sports
Welcome to the Attis Arena for our last home league encounter let’s see if we can emulate Scunthorpe RUFC as the Greens finished champions of their Regional 1 league and will play National League 2 next season. Well done to the egg chasers.
Given the success of the 100 football cards which have raised £1000 for Ross Barrows recovery programme and £200 towards our next share purchase the Iron Trust ran a further card for Flag Day, we asked £2 for the chance to win £50 with all proceeds going to the stroke unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital who looked after our own Dave Bev admirably, this card was won by Mick Hind who correctly picked out Manchester United.
We are very pleased to be able to announce that our player of the season award as voted by Trust members over the course of the season went to Callum Roberts. Well done Callum, presenting our award are members Pete Hewes and Aaron Cheeseman, two of the lads who produced the brilliant videos for the 24/25 kit launch starring Alex Calvo-Garcia.
A further presentation by the Iron Trust will be the 125-year Centenary box which we promised to one member on reaching our 1250th member or the seasons end whichever came first. Membership stood at 1175 when the draw took place and number 645 belonging to Mr Gary King of Gainsborough was picked via random draw. Gary has been with us since 2023.
Flag day went well at the Honest Lawyer with a great turn out from Iron Fans, unfortunately I was nights but checked the Lawyer in the morning to make sure the flags were still up and intact, a chap called Paul was taking photographs otherwise all was well. Thanks to Big Shuggy and Mrs G for their efforts and Dan at the Lawyer.
Hopefully these will be the last notes of the season so on behalf of Dave, Steve, John, Mark, Jake, Susan, Bryn, Matt ,Brian and I have a great summer.
Up the mighty Iron
