Trust’s Chair Solihull programme notes

Good afternoon to all our members and fellow Iron supporters everywhere as we congregate once again at the hallowed Attis Arena and welcome Solihull Moors as opponents. We visited a very wet Armco Arena back in November and have hardly had a dry day since!

In recent weeks the Iron have played all three of the top placed teams in the National League: Carlisle away, Rochdale away and York at home. The relatively short trip to Rochdale saw nearly 1000 away fans make the trip; most enjoying the delights of the Willbutts Lane chippy conveniently sited right outside the away entrance and no doubt denting Dale pie sales.

The next Iron Trust board meeting is on Wednesday 18th March at the Berkeley Hotel which is only a couple of weeks away so if any member wishes to raise anything with us please contact our secretary, Steve Hawes.

Trust Vice Chair Dave Beverley has become a member of the SAG (Safety Advisory Group) chaired by North Lincolnshire Council and attended by various council departments as well as the statutory emergency services Ambulance, Fire & Rescue and Police. Trust friends PC Paul Hurrell and Stadium Manager Martin Hopper also attend. Dave brings many years of Iron support as well as that of England where he has travelled the world displaying his St George’s Iron Flag in prominent positions for maximum TV coverage. Dave’s first SAG will be in May.

Watch out for the latest Trust player of the month voting email which will be going out over the next few days. Last month Zain Westbrooke picked up the award. Each season Trust members are selected to present the seasonal award on behalf of the Trust.  Last season Messers Hewes and Cheeseman presented the award to Callum Roberts. They were given the honour as a thank you for their excellent shirt launch videos.

Well done to Scunthorpe Rugby Union Football Club who offered Iron season ticket holders free entry to their home match versus local rivals Hull at Heslam Park last Saturday whilst the Iron were away at Aldershot. The Greens who play in National League 2 North treated home fans to a 41-32 victory to go above Hull in the table.

Up the Mighty Iron
