Statement re: Glanford Park

The Iron Trust is delighted that a deal between Scunthorpe United, North Lincolnshire Council and former owner Peter Swann can finally be announced.

The Iron Trust has been working behind the scenes for several months with key partners including Andy Walsh of The FSA and Sir Nic Dakin, we have held several meetings with North Lincolnshire Council, the Board of Scunthorpe United and been in regular contact with Mr Swann.

The Community Interest Company named the New Showground CIC should protect the stadium and associated land going forward, allowing the Club Board to concentrate on running the football club.

The Iron Trust has already written to the council officers who have worked diligently behind the scenes to enable a deal to be done to thank them for helping to save our club.

Iron Trust chairman Cllr Tony Gosling said…

” We at the Trust are delighted that both the football club and stadium have now been saved. There has been a great deal of time and effort by many people to make those two things happen. The ACV placed on the ground by the Iron Trust was the enabler and for that we thank our members for their faith and backing.

We urge the community of Scunthorpe to get behind their club and stand United with the board to bring success back to the Iron”.
