Chair’s Eastleigh Programme notes

Welcome to the Spitfires from Eastleigh for what is our final league game of the season.

The big news is that the Iron Trust player of the season award has been picked up by Callum Roberts; his second in succession; a big well done to Callum. The trophy will be presented pitch side before today’s game by John Needham and Dave Scott on behalf of Trust members. For interest in second place was Joe Rowley whilst third place went to Alfie Beestin. Our winners and runners up are decided by totalling up monthly votes from Trust members over the 9 months of the season. Incidentally Winterton Iron members voted for Joe Rowley as their player of the season. Joe has already committed his future to the Iron by signing a new two-year contract.

Today is Flag Day where all Scunthorpe United supporters are invited to attend the Honest Lawyer in the town straight after the game. We have been busy this morning putting up the flags and enjoying a pre-match breakfast. Club officials and even former players have been known to drop in. We will be running a 100 card where all proceeds go to a local charity.

Irish Iron, aka Bernard Griffin and company, will also be at the game today where members can sign up for another year’s membership. Bernard provides a membership card and a couple of exclusive Irish Iron goodies all for a tenner. If you don’t catch him pre match in the Iron Bar at the ground he will at some point be at the Lawyer.

The Hat-trick draw winning numbers for April were 1st – £75 number 240: 2nd – £25 number 222 and 3rd – £10 number 49. As usual the end of season May draw will see one lucky winner pick up the single prize of £500.

See you all in the play-offs and whatever the result it’s been a magnificent season with the usual ups and downs and twists and turns which is all part of being a football fan of any club. For Iron supporters the roller coaster is on the up after falling from League 2 to the NLN, and now on the way back up, with a guaranteed quarter final and who knows maybe a semi-final and just maybe another Wembley appearance.

Thank you to our members for your support for the Trust  on behalf of the Iron Trust board – Tony, Dave, Steve, Mark, Jake, Matt, Bryn and Emily and those retiring board members John, Susan and Brian.

Up the Mighty Iron
