This season we return to our more traditional day for flag Day (last season the fixture schedule and bank holidays forced our hand a little earlier) as once again will be at the Honest Lawyer after the last league game versus Eastleigh. The National League threw in a curve ball with a 12:30pm KO v Eastleigh but as one optimist stated “more daylight drinking hours then”.
Flag Day is open to all Scunthorpe United supporters and sees the Lawyer packed with fans often spilling out onto the pavement having been blessed with sunny weather in previous years. This season we will be able to reflect on waht has been a very successful season and the possibility of more with the Play-offs just a few days later,
The Flags are stored and kept each year and we would welcome any fan who wished to add to the collection. Please liaise with ‘Big Shuggy’ Bryn Gosling as he is the only one tall enough to hang the flags (drop a line to [email protected]).
During Flag Day we raise funds via a raffle or football card with the entire proceeds going to a local charity. Last year the chosen charity was the Stroke Unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital: we have not chosen any cause or charity this year so if any Iron Trust member would like to nominate one please contact us.
