Brackley prog notes from the Trust Chair

Welcome to the Attis Arena for today’s game against last year’s deserved National North Champions Brackley. A warm welcome also to the travelling Saints contingent.

The Iron Trust player of the month votes for March went in the favour of Alfie Beestin. Well done to Alfie. In the next programme notes v Eastleigh and via our final newsletter of the season we will be revealing the overall seasonal winner. As ever a big thank you to all those members who take the time to vote over the course of the season.

The Iron Trust board meeting minutes are now available via our website www.irontrust.com ; though these are the highlights and not the comprehensive working minutes compiled by ‘Mr Secretary’ Steve Hawes.

Steve, who brought easyfundraising to the Trust, is urging members to sign up and nominate our organisation, (Scunthorpe United Supporters Society), as their cause.  The Trust then gets a small cash percentage of the transactions made by our members on purchases they make from companies or organisations that deal with easyfundraising.

Last night saw Iron Trust member Luke Harrison ride for the Scunthorpe Scorpions at the Eddie Wright Raceway against Poole Pirates. Luke is a real protégé in speedway and is donning the ‘Scorpions’ No 3 heat leader race jacket this season: a good contingent of Iron fans can always be found up at the raceway.

The last Trust board meeting also discussed the ever-popular Flag Day which once again will be held at the Honest Lawyer. The National League threw in a curve ball with a 12:30pm KO v Eastleigh which hasn’t dampened fans ardour one bit.  As one optimist stated “more daylight drinking hours then”. Flag Day is open to all Scunthorpe United supporters and sees the Lawyer packed with fans often spilling out onto the pavement having been blessed with sunny weather in previous years.

The Flags are stored and kept each year and we would welcome any fan who wished to add to the collection. Please liaise with ‘Big Shuggy’ Bryn Gosling as he is the only one tall enough to hang the flags.

During Flag Day we raise funds via a raffle or football card with the entire proceeds going to a local charity. Last year the chosen charity was the Stroke Unit at Scunthorpe General Hospital: we have not chosen any cause or charity this year so if any Iron Trust member would like to nominate one please contact us.

The Hat-trick draw winning numbers for March were as follows: 1st prize  £75 – Number 53; 2nd prize  £25  Number – 234 and 3rd prize  £10  Number – 190.  If you wish to join the monthly draw then please get in touch with us at Trust corner before any league game.

Enjoy the game – UTI
