Good afternoon everyone as we gather at the Attis Arena on this Good Friday bank holiday; possibly after hot cross buns and a fish dinner. Welcome to travelling Pools fans making the journey south.
Only three home games left to go and we have asked our members to send in their votes for the March player of the month award. This will obviously be the last monthly award as we then total up for the Iron Trust player of the season award. Vice Chair Dave Beverley has already picked up the trophy ready for engraving prior to presentation at the final home game. The trophy will be presented this season by John Needham and David Scott. Needers as ‘Mr Iron Trust’ and Scotty who was a magnificent benefactor during the Sharebuilder fundraiser which raised £13,200 to buy shares in the club.
The Trust recently received a donation of a pair of Ross Fitzsimmons goalkeeper gloves. The Trust agreed to give the gloves away to one of our members via a random draw with Trust member number 629, Andrew Whittaker, drawn out of the hat. Andrew has until the end of the season to pick up his prize. Another Trust giveaway was Carlton’s number 14 shirt which we sponsored and subsequently raffled via a 100 card. Lucky winner was Mike Johnson who picked the shirt up prior to the Rochdale game.
Our random draws involve all our members, including our latest additions and amongst them was a chap from New Zealand. This has sent member figures up to 1216. The Trust owns £23,200 worth of shares a total of 1160 £20 shares. We would like to thank Michelle, Roj, George and Ian for freeing up that last batch of shares.
Also, at our last board meeting the Trust agreed to relook at our merchandise and procure some new wares. The last batch of exclusive gear was donated by Will Wharton under his Iron Art design. No doubt the last few Iron Art items will become collectors’ items in the future.
Should any member have any ideas for merchandise that they would like to see on our stand or any contact in the supply of football type merchandise then please shout up.
Happy Easter to all our members, fellow Iron fans everywhere and programme readers.
Up the Mighty Iron
Tony Gosling
Chair of the Iron Trust
